Like most geocachers, I have been buying geocoins and started collecting them. I have released two coins over the last few months and they have ended up in some ones pocket and not in a cache. So here is what I am going to do with my geocoins:
- Take a picture of both sides of the coin and print them on photopaper.
- Laminate the images of the coins.
- Glue them to an object such as a metal washer so the coin will have some weight to them.
- Then set it free.
Now if it gets lost I can make another one and place it out. My fellow geocachers can enjoy the coin and get the icon and I still ket to keep the real one. I have seen one of these in the wild and thought it was a great idea. I have also seen coins defaced by the owner so people would not collect them. I know it is a real thrill to find a coin in the wild, but with the cost of $9 to $20 for a coin, you hate to lose them. Just a thought!
I just listened to the PODCACHER show and I sound like the hick I am! Oh well, I can blame it on Arkansas! If you have any questions feel free to email me.
