Another Lost Coin !

I am really getting bummed out about lost geocoins!  I have been tracking one of my Generic Geocoins and it ended up in a Cache near where my other coin went missing.  I think someone in Conway is a coin collector!  This is a shame that people can’t release coins without the fear of someone stealing them.  I guess I will make some photo copies of the coins like I had mentioned in an earlier post and do that.  I can’t figure out what someone is going to do with those coins?  Oh well, I won’t let it get me down.

You know I love GSAK and all the things it can do, well I learned another little trick the other day.  My dad bought me a Lowrance H2O GPS and I have been playing with it for a few months now.  It used a SD card to load coordinates to the GPS from the computer, in this case GSAK.  So I download my query from Geocaching.com for the area I have chosen and load the LOC file to the selected database I have chosen.  Just as I was ready to send it to my GPS I noted a box “Symbols” on it and I clicked it.  Did you know you can give different icons to different types of caches.  For example I chose a big X for traditional geocaches and a skull and cross bones for multi caches, and some other symbol for mystery caches.

So I upload to my GPS and there they are on the screen.  Very cool! Another cool thing I can do is select the number of characters I want displayed in the title of the cache.  Of course, this is dependent on your GPS.  My older Magellan will only allow 8 characters for the cache name.  Most of the newer model GPS’s will allow more letters in the cache name.  This is just another cool feature of GSAK.  Stay tuned for more tips.
